Composition:Ursodeoxycholic acid 300 SR Tablet

Ursodeoxycholic acid occurring substance (bile acid) normally present in the bile. have surgery or do not wish to have surgery. To treat a type of liver disease known as primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC).

Indications:

• It is used to reduce the cholesterol content of biliary fluid.
• n general this drug is used to dissolve gallstones made of cholesterol & to treat a condition called primary biliary cirrhosis.
• Benefits of being on this drug in patients with primary biliary cirrhosis include the prevention or treatment of lack of bile flow from liver to the intestine & dissolve of gallstones in patients who have this problem.

Usage:

• Treatment of primary biliary cirrhosis
• Dissolve gallstones.

Mechanism of Action:

Anticholelithic—Although the exact mechanism of action is not completely understood, it is known that when administered orally ursoate is concentrated in bile and decreases biliary cholesterol saturation by suppressing hepatic synthesis and secretion of cholesterol, and by inhibiting its intestinal absorption. The reduced cholesterol saturation permits the gradual solubilization of cholesterol from gallstones, resulting in their eventual dissolution.
