Nimesulide is a nonsteroidal arylsulfonamide with anti-inflammatory properties. Nimesulide inhibits the cyclooxygenase-mediated conversion of arachidonic acid to pro-inflammatory prostaglandins. Modestly selective for COX-2, this agent binds to the enzyme, thereby inactivating it. Nimesulide may inhibit some carcinogenic COX-2-related carcinogenic effects on xenobiotic metabolism, apoptosis, immune surveillance and angiogenesis.
Paracetamol (acetaminophen) is a pain reliever and a fever reducer. Paracetamol is used to treat many conditions such as headache, muscle aches, arthritis, backache, toothaches, colds, and fevers.
Nimuslide is fairly rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. The volume of distribution in the post distribution phase for Nimuslide ranges from 0.19 to 0.39 L/Kg, indication that the drug is principally distributed in the extra cellular fluid compartment. Nimuslide is almost exclusively metabolized & cleared by the liver. After oral administration of Nimuslide 100 mg the apparent mean elimination half life varied from 1.96 to 4.75 hrs. Nimuslide is mainly eliminated by the renal route.
